Lent 2020 Week 2: 17/1/2020
Lent Term – Week 2
In true ‘Agincourt fashion’ we didn’t allow threats of Storm Brendan get in our way this week. On Monday, Nursery children celebrated World Cardboard Chaos Day. An opportunity to allow imaginations run wild, we witnessed a range of creations including a shower, a racing car and even a zombie! Later in the week, pupils braved the great outdoors to investigate hot and cold. Activities included hot chocolate around the fire, freezing experiments and wrapping up in woolly blankets.
Meanwhile, our Reception children have been focusing on mindfulness and can be heard ‘shaking their sillies’ – a unique dance designed to release endorphins and focus the mind ready for work.
Year 1 pupils visited Everes’s Farm on Tuesday for their ‘Field to Fork’ experience and it is safe to say that the staff and pupil reviews were 5 star. Later in the week, our school hall was a scene of whippy cream, sprinkles, marshmallows and cocoa powder when our Year 1 team had the opportunity to create their very own milkshakes.
Lastly, our Year 2 children visited Bees for Development to learn about sustainable beekeeping and discover some of the by-products of the honey bee. Following their visit, children held a debate discussing the pros and cons of wild flower gardens. In ICT lessons, the Year 2 team have been learning how to create algorithms using iPads.
