Family’s Morph selfie success

October 5, 2017

A Monmouth teacher and her two young sons are celebrating after winning a selfie competition to honour the world’s most loved modelling clay figure.

Mrs Franklin posed for the photograph with sons Alastair and Elliott, who made cards to mark Morph’s 40th birthday, during the summer.

Now the family’s happy snap for ‘myMorphselfie’ has been declared the overall winner in the competition hosted by The Grand Appeal at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.

Eight-year-old Alastair (centre) is a pupil at Monmouth School Boys’ Prep, while Elliott, aged five, attends Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery.

“Having never won a competition before, we are so pleased,” said Mrs Franklin, who teaches at Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery.

“Alastair and Elliott decided to make Morph a card/birthday sign to use in our selfie. Amazingly, our photograph was chosen as the winning selfie.”

Both boys received a Morph t-shirt and a paint-your-own Morph figure. They will be returning to Bristol soon for an official winners’ photograph.

Alastair said: “I couldn’t believe we had been chosen as the winners. I was so excited that we had won. I love Morph.”

Elliott said: “Morph is amazing, he makes me laugh. I was so happy we had won. I loved painting my own Morph.”

The Morph: Still Naughty at 40! exhibition runs at Cribbs Causeway until 29th October and celebrates the famous creation of animation legends Peter Lord and David Sproxton.

A competition spokesman said: “Kath and her two boys made an amazing effort with their ‘myMorphselfie’ and we were so impressed.

“They have been chosen as the over-all competition winners and will receive some brilliant Morph: Still Naughty at 40! merchandise.”
