Science holds an important place in the curriculum due to its diverse cross curricular and everyday links. We value the teaching of Science and aim to ensure that each child fulfils their potential both in both their knowledge and understanding of the subject. The children’s grasp of the key practical areas of learning leads to the development of a better understanding of scientific elements.
We aim to provide pupils with opportunities to observe, explore, ask questions and develop the skills of working together. They are encouraged to collaborate to collect evidence, answer questions and to link their findings to simple scientific ideas. Children are guided to begin to evaluate evidence and consider whether tests or comparisons are fair. They will share ideas and communicate them using scientific language, drawings, charts and tables with the help of ICT when appropriate.
