Cadet Sergeant Major Olivia with Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE

The effort of a student at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools has been recognised by the King’s representative for the county.
Cadet Sergeant Major Olivia of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ Combined Cadet Force was among just five young people appointed as a Gwent Lord-Lieutenant cadet 2023.
Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE appointed the young people as Lord-Lieutenant cadets for Gwent for this year, at an awards ceremony at Raglan Barracks, Newport.
The role lasts for a year and includes attendance with the Brigadier, who acts as the King’s representative, at official engagements, such as Remembrance events, Royal visits and parades.
The awards ceremony, attended by nearly 100 people, was organised by the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales – an organisation that has supported the Armed Forces for more than 100 years.
