Old Monmothians and former staff gather for memorial service

More than 200 Old Monmothians and former staff gathered for a memorial service to celebrate the life and career of Peter Anthony, on Saturday morning.
Mr Anthony was a much-loved former Acting Headmaster, Second Master and History teacher at Monmouth School for Boys who died, aged 78, on 27th December 2021.
The long-serving Mr Anthony, who joined Monmouth to teach History in September 1968, also shone in his role as Master in Charge of Cricket, as a rugby coach and as a Housemaster.
Tributes were given by former Headmaster Rupert Lane; Old Monmothians David Hitchcock OBE and Dr David Watkins; and Old Monmothian Club President, Mr Steve Raikes.
Former school Chaplain, Prebendary Norman Morris, led the service.
The singing was led by the 40-strong Chapel Choir under the baton of the Director of Music, David Lawson.
Mr Anthony’s widow, Judy; their daughters and son were pleased that so many of Peter’s former pupils and colleagues were able to attend.
