In a heart-warming ceremony, the Girls’ School marked the end of the academic year with their end of term awards assembly, setting the stage for both reflection and excitement for the future. The assembly commenced with a warm welcome from Acting Head, Mrs Rachel Rees.

Following the welcome, the students energetically sang ‘Shine Jesus Shine’. Encouraged to “sing at the top of their lungs” reminiscent of the spirited sing along by the Old Girls at HABS FEST last Saturday.

The spotlight then turned to Bella, the new Head Girl for 2024/25, who took to the stage to present the awards. After the assembly Bella expressed her joy to us, stating, “I love giving out the awards, it’s good to see the people who have been successful and it’s important for them to be celebrated.” Her enthusiasm was palpable as she continued to discuss the school’s upcoming transition to co-education in September. “I’m looking forward to the future, especially with the new school and the myriad of new opportunities and experiences it will bring,” she said, capturing the forward-looking spirit of the assembly.

Her gratitude highlighted the strength and continuity that these long-serving members bring to the school community. During her address, Mrs Rees talked about the future of the school, “As we prepare to become fully coeducational, we celebrate our shared journey, our cherished traditions, and embrace the bright future and opportunities that lie ahead.”

The assembly concluded with a wonderful dance routine which incorporated a nostalgic slideshow curated by Ms Parry, who is retiring after 28 years of service. The slideshow showcased the past dance performances she had choreographed, offering a visual trip down memory lane. As a final hurrah, the D4Motion dancers, choreographed by Ms Parry herself, delivered a stunning dance performance that brought the assembly to a jubilant close.
