Monmouth children dazzle with magical production of hidden world

June 26, 2018

Every pupil in Monmouth School Girls’ Prep took two packed audiences on a magical tour of the mysterious hidden world.

Through dance, drama, speech and song, What Lies Beneath featured original routines, incredible costumes, stunning lighting and outstanding performances by the energetic girls at Inglefield.

Creative Director and Producer, Ms Rhyan Parry, Head of Dance at Monmouth School for Girls, put together a spectacular summer concert which will live long in the memory.

What Lies Beneath has been the starting point for learning across the school curriculum this term with pupils reading about fossils and coral reefs.

Dancing skeletons, a dinosaur stomp, mesmeric mermaids and floating jellyfish brought the joyful show to life with colour and purpose.

The haunting hands of a grandfather clock and an entomology rap song kept the audience on the edge of their seats throughout.

There was hardly a dry eye in the house when the whole school gathered on stage to round off the excellent show with a fabulous rendition of the Beatles’ Octopus’s Garden.
