Eye-catching designs from two creative teenagers will be lighting up the annual Monmouth Festival later this month.

Max’s bold design will be emblazoned on the front of the festival’s official t-shirts after he won a competition involving the town’s senior schools.

William, a fellow pupil at Monmouth School for Boys, will see his colourful design in shop windows after he triumphed in the poster competition.

Both boys are 14 years old and enjoyed seeing Max’s initial artwork progress into a finished t-shirt at Jolly Clothing screenprinters. The boys were each presented with a souvenir T-shirt.

William’s posters will be distributed to businesses which have sponsored the festival, advertised in the brochure and provided support.

The free festival, which kicks off on Friday 27th July, runs until Saturday 4th August and showcases an eclectic mix of iconic legends, local artists and up-and-coming young talent.

Singer Ella, a pupil at Monmouth School for Girls, will performing a 15-minute set at the festival after winning a talent competition at the Blake Theatre earlier this year.

Ella won Monmouth’s Got Talent after shining with her acoustic version of Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

Ella will be joined at the festival by Monmouth School for Girls’ dance group, Monmouth Girls Dance and Carys (MGDC), which finished runners-up in the talent competition.

Carys, who sings for the dance group, has been asked to perform the national anthem at the festival.
