A popular member of staff at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools has run a marathon in a month in aid of charity.

Health and Safety Manager, Marie Roberts?Watkins, successfully completed 26.2 miles and has raised more than £800 for Prostate Cancer UK.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me,” said Marie, who dressed as Wonder Woman for her final run.

“From the motivational messages to the donations and, for physically being there for me, you are all fabulous and amazing.”

Marie said:  “I normally try to do some sort of exercise about once or twice a year, but I thought the Run the Month challenge was a fitting one.”

Marie said the motivation for the challenge was having seen members of her family affected by cancer.

“I wouldn’t wish what they have gone through on anyone and I wanted to support the work of a fantastic charity,” she said.

“I totally smashed my target because I never thought I’d raise £500 let alone more than £800.”
