Hampton Small Boats Head 2014

December 5, 2014

On Saturday 29th November, HMSGRC had an eventful day at Hampton Small Boats Head. With 11 boats racing during the day it was a busy time for the club, but with team work and a “hands on” approach, the club had a successful day of racing. The Junior 15 squad demonstrated their fitness and stamina over the 3000 metre course. Whilst one quad raced in the morning division, the second quad came close behind them in the second division with only 1 second between them! The senior squad had a tough day with most girls racing in both divisions, racing 6000 metres in total – 12, 000 counting the row up to the start. The single sculls showed a solid fitness level throughout, all finishing within 20 seconds of each other. The doubles and pairs showed just as much determination as the others, finishing well within the pack of their competition.

This was a real test for the girls, physically and mentally and they all attacked it with vigour and enthusiasm, which is reflected in the results. Emily came a close second in her Under 19 Novice single scull race and Hannah came an impressive 29th out of 68 in her Junior 16 single scull. All of the girls should be commended for their team work, effort and pure determination throughout the day. Well done girls!
