From Canterbury to Castles

June 16, 2015

From canterbury to castlesHaving concluded their topic on Romeo and Juliet, Year 4 have jumped headlong into their latest English unit all about story telling through the study of the Canterbury Tales.

This week the girls have met a variety of the colourful (and sometimes disgusting) characters that made up Chaucer’s pilgrim party. Continuing with our Medieval theme, The girls also enjoyed a trip to Goodrich Castle.

They took the opportunity to walk the battlements and to get a feel for what life in the castle’s prison must have been like. They planned an attack of the castle, then quickly abandoned those plans, upon realising just how impenetrable the castle’s defences were! The girls were complimented by castle staff for their impeccable behaviour. Well done girls!
