Timeless values celebrated in assembly

September 19th, 2019

Creativity, compassion and community were among the key themes in an inspiring Monmouth School for Girls’ Confidence4Life (C4L) charity-themed assembly.

Anna, one of the Monmouth School Girls’ Prep pupils involved in the presentation, raised £90 on her Charities Day stall for the Marine Conservation Society.

Anna has been presented with a certificate by  the Marine Conservation Society after making her own pom-poms and other items to sell.

Erin, the C4L Prefect, said: “As a school, we have shown all of these values and more, raising a record amount of over £15,000 for almost 30 charities through our school-based events, smashing last year’s amount by over £1,000, in addition to carrying out hours of volunteering and giving.

“The charity programme has been a hive of activity with numerous events also taking place in the wider community.”

Fellow C4L Prefect, Gemma, said: “As we start this new and exciting academic year, we should remember our moral obligations: to help those in need, near or far, not because we have to, but because we want to.

“In the coming weeks, we will launch the Harvest request for produce and the shoebox appeal.

“We would also ask you to give of your time. I regularly visit the elderly and just spend time talking to them – it costs nothing and brings so much happiness.”

Gemma added: “Our timeless values reflect the charitable culture of compassion, creativity and community, so just as we would support our houses and our friends, let us all work together to help others.”
