eleanorA swimmer who always goes to great lengths to improve her technique continues to make a splash in competitions.

Eleanor from Inglefield House took part in her first gala for Torfaen Dolphins in the summer holidays, winning an impressive haul of medals.

The 10-year-old, who trains five days a week, took the gold medal for 100m freestyle and silver for breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 200m freestyle.

She also won gold in the 400m freestyle, but was sadly disqualified from this race for her tumble turn.

She said: “I’m in competition with myself all the time. If I get the opportunity, I would love to keep working hard and compete in the Olympics one day.”

Two of Eleanor’s five training days take place at school.

She continued: “Inglefield House has been very supportive of my swimming and always encourages me.

“I feel relaxed in the water, even though I’m training hard.

“I just feel at home when I’m swimming.”
