Summer 2017 Week 7: 16/6/2017

Summer Term – Week 7

I was rather envious of many of the girls this week. The visit to Cardiff University was amazing and the girls were buzzing with excitement after it. So too were the staff who accompanied them. The germ box was a particular hit! A small group of Year 5 pupils also investigated the world of science and engineering with a visit to Reid Lifting in Chepstow. There, they saw the supersonic car, Bloodhound SSC which will be aiming to smash the world land speed record in 2018. The children were also amazed at some of the machines in the factory and marvelled at the items a very expensive lathe was producing. Looking good for the take up of STEM subjects in the future here!

We paused for a moment today in assembly to create a quiet moment in the busy week to reflect on kindness and patience. With so many exciting things to do, tiredness can creep in and tempers become shorter. Please encourage your daughters into bed at a reasonable time and make allowances for the fact that all the effort they are putting into events is tiring. The show is coming together and everyone needs plenty of energy to carry it off so healthy food, lots of water and a good night’s sleep are prescribed. Teachers too!
