Michaelmas 2018 Week 7: 2/11/2018

Michaelmas Term – Week 7

The clocks have gone back and there’s a definite feel of winter in the air. The chickens have been glad of some extra straw in their nesting boxes and they have also very much appreciated pecking at the Halloween pumpkins. Our chicken monitors have had fun making corn on the cob piñatas for their fluffy charges; watching them jump up and down provides hours of amusement!

We welcomed Dale Evans from Cancer Research Wales to our assembly today. He had a very difficult task judging the hats in Emily W’s Halloween hat competition. I was very glad to hand this responsibility over to him. He made excellent choices and congratulations are due to Tilly in Year 3 who emerged as overall champion. We heard about the great work the charity does and also that the money raised so far in Tom Walker’s memory will be channelled towards setting up a PHD fund for research into leukaemia. In order to fully fund this programme the charity has set a target of £100,000 to be raised within three years. There is already £20,000+ donated on the justgiving page and we plan to hold events to try to realise this total. A staff team have decided they will participate in the Pen y Fan nightwalk in March. Perhaps you might like to join us with your child? Under 13s must be accompanied by an adult in a one to one ratio. See you there?
