Michaelmas 2018 Week 11: 30/11/2018

Michaelmas Term – Week 11

Today is the last day of November and we are officially allowed to start talking about Christmas from tomorrow! The girls are just managing to contain their excitement but that won’t last as we head into the final full week. It has sounded so lovely as carols for Christingle float through the corridors and everywhere there are groups of girls huddling, discussing their stalls for Chringlefield-our Charity Christmas fair. The girls have taken on board the idea that they should be putting in the effort to create something and that charity involves giving time as well as money.

I was privileged to visit Ty Hafan yesterday with Hallie, Lily R and Morgan. Hallie’s grandfather had been instrumental in setting up the hospice. We were all bowled over by the warmth and welcome in the atmosphere and it was a very good experience for the girls to understand a little more how we can try to manage the difficulties that life throws at us. They have come back to school with thanks and an insight into the great work that the hospice staff do and I think we will be including Ty Hafan in our fundraising for the foreseeable future. Thank you to those who generously sent in gifts, which were very well received by the hospice and also to those who have put together a backpack (final date 7th December) or brought in selection boxes for the other charities we are supporting.
