Michaelmas Term – Week 10

The reverse advent calendar idea, initiated by Isabella in Year 3 has really captured the imagination of the girls here at Monmouth Girls’ Prep and each form is coming up with their own ideas to help others in the run up to Christmas. Freda in Year 4 has spoken to her form about helping the homeless and they are discussing creative ways to support this. With our Christmas fair, “Chringlefield”, coming up on the 10th December, we have decided to challenge the girls to come up with ideas for stalls which will cost less in money than they will in time and effort. We are keen for the idea of charity to mean more than simply handing over money given to them by a kind parent! I could be on tricky ground here-we very much appreciate your generosity with your donations and thank you in advance for your giving this term.

I caught an announcement on the BBC this week, introducing the Young Reporter competition and I immediately thought of our girls. On further investigation into the competition, it transpired that some of our prize winning senior pupils from the Girls’ and Boys’ Schools had coincidentally been invited to a series of interviews by some BBC Young Reporters. As part of this experience they had a meeting with Lord Sugar for well over an hour! I would urge any girls who are already 11 (the lowest age limit for the competition) to click on this link and see if they might like to enter. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/41366824
