Kind-hearted girls wear red to raise £362 for charity

January 31, 2020

Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools created a sea of red to raise money for two important charities on Friday 31st January.

Children and staff at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep wore a splash of red and raised £362 towards the Wear Red for Wales and Velindre campaign and Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Year 11 student at Monmouth School for Girls, Darcey, is a Velindre Ambassador and her family has been directly helped by the organisation.

They also supported a scheme launched by a Monmouth student to fund a heart screening day for around 100 young people in the town next summer.

Sixth Form student, Elinor, set up Hartbeat after being inspired by her cousin Frank Arentz, a former Monmouth School for Boys’ pupil, who was diagnosed with a heart condition.

Frank’s condition was discovered during a screening, run by the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
