Hilary Phillips to take Headship at Ashdown House in September 2019

December 19, 2018

Following an extensive selection process from an impressive field, Mrs Hilary Phillips has been offered and has accepted the post of Head of Ashdown House Prep School in Sussex.

In order to allow the smoothest possible transition, Mrs Phillips will continue as Headmistress of Monmouth School Girls’ Prep until the end of the Summer term before taking up her new role in September 2019.

Mrs Phillips has shown strong leadership, energy and commitment since her appointment in September 2013.

During this time, the school achieved ‘excellent’ across the board in the 2016 Estyn Inspection and the numbers on roll have increased significantly.

Hilary introduced an exciting new creative curriculum and ensured much closer collaboration with both the Boys’ Prep and the Pre-Prep, including the joint choirs, quiz teams, chapel services and the very successful annual Year 6 French trip.

Mr Tom Arrand, Acting Head of Monmouth School for Girls, said: ‘With her husband working in the South East, we recognise this is a very good move for Hilary and her family and wish her every success in this new venture.

“We will now start the recruitment process for finding a new Head for Monmouth School Girls’ Prep and will keep you informed over the coming months.’
