Girls dazzle with spectacular Winnie Wonka production

May 24, 2019

Children at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep brought an adaptation of a Roald Dahl classic to life with overwhelming success.

Winnie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory had outstanding dance routines and stunning costumes combined with confident acting and lovely singing.

Every child at the school was involved in the two-night production performed in front of packed audiences in the main hall at Monmouth School for Girls.

The dance routines were spectacular and saw girls dressed as lollipops, candy canes, dolly mixtures, jelly babies, squirrels and, of course, Oompa Loompas.

The show’s creative director and producer, Ms Rhyan Parry, and her hard-working team were delighted with the standard of the girls’ acting, dancing and singing.

Headmistress at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, Mrs Hilary Phillips, said: “The show was an astonishing demonstration of what can be done when everyone works together.

“The girls learnt discipline, co-ordination, working in harmony as a group and confidence in putting themselves forward.

“What stands out for me as the highlight of the production was the sheer joy and exuberance that was clearly seen in the girls’ expressions.”
