Beautiful Christingle service lights up St Mary’s Priory Church

December 20, 2018

Lovely singing and the glow of candles lit up St Mary’s Priory Church for Monmouth School Girls’ Prep’s Christingle service.

Rutter’s Star Carol, featuring soloist Hannah, was sung in candlelight during the traditional festive celebration.

Soloists Eloise and Emily sparkled with Once in Royal David’s City and The Little Road of Bethlehem (Head), respectively.

The Years 5 and 6 choir shone with Sing with me (Huff), Ding dong merrily on high (French) and Shepherd’s Pipe Carol (Rutter), featuring soloist Isla Davies.

The Years 3 and 4 choir sang Rise up Shepherd and Follow (Traditional) and Time of Year (Lehmann), while Lauren, Lara, Imogen, Dilys and Head Girl, Hallie, read lessons.

Lessons were also read by Headteacher, Mrs Hilary Phillips, Acting Head at Monmouth School for Girls, Mr Tom Arrand, and Deputy Head, Mrs Olwen Davis.

A collection at the service was made on behalf of Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice, The Children’s Society, and Music for Life.
