Beautiful Christingle service lights up St Mary’s Church

December 5, 2017

The glow of candles and beautiful singing filled St Mary’s Church for Monmouth School Girls’ Prep’s annual Christingle service.

The orchestra, soloists and choirs led the congregation to Rutter’s Star Carol, sung in candlelight tradition during the special festive celebration on Friday, December 1.

Year 6 pupils delivered a spine-tingling reading of The Power of Christingle, Years 3 and 4 choir sang Torches,  Year 5 and 6 choir performed the Donkey Carol and the small choir, I Saw Three Ships.

Joana and Bella performed a polished duet of Watchet auf! by Bach.

Pupils Grace D, Grace L, Isabella, Eleanor and Head Girl, Hannah, all read lessons with confidence.

Lessons were also read by Headmistress at Monmouth School for Girls, Dr Caroline Pascoe, and Headmistress at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep, Mrs Hilary Phillips.

Monmouth School Girls’ Prep prefects led prayers and the congregation sang Once in Royal David’s City, O come, all ye faithful, God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
