A Victorian visitorMay 26th, 2015
The girls love an occasion to dress up, and this week proved to be no exception! Being suitably attired in Victorian costume made our workshop a more meaningful experience and of course great fun! As maids, chimney sweeps, flower girls, wealthy ladies and pick pockets we learnt much about Victorian life, particularly the hardships. We explored the horror of being in the workhouse, the brutality of crime and punishment, the gore of medicine and disease and the discipline of army life.
The highlight of our morning was definitely the rifle drill where our three teams of girls practised their skills until they reached military perfection.
