“For me the summer began in Vienna. In soaring temperatures Frau Smail and Frau Keyton guided a really dynamic mix of HMSG girls through the City’s  history of Art and Architecture from the pristine grounds of the palaces to the dizzying heights of the Ferris wheel.

“A short stay at home and then I found myself transported to the magnificent, dwarfing landscapes of Iceland. Mr Meek and Mrs Harper led us on an unforgettable tour of natural wonders such as waterfalls, ice-bergs, volcanoes and glaciers. This trip allowed us to better understand the earth’s geology and chemistry. The highlight for me was the glacier walk, it was breath-taking!

“A pit-stop at home to join my parents on our family holiday in Turkey and then I returned home for a further week’s work experience, starting the very next day at Mercedes Benz Cheltenham & Gloucester. This was my second week with Mercedes, having had a week with them during the Easter holidays. I enjoyed it so much and we got on so well, I accepted an invitation to return in the summer. I was able to work in several different departments: Sales, Administration, Front Desk and Parts. I met everyone from the General Manager to the Meet-and-Greet Doorman and from day one they were very good at involving me as part of the team. The three most important things I learnt from this experience was the importance of teamwork (rolling up your sleeves and being able to work across teams), being able to get on with all sorts of people from different backgrounds and having a fantastic product / service to promote and sell.

“At the end of my week I was offered a weekend job but I had to politely decline as I have to concentrate on my GCSEs this year. It was really great to be asked though.”
