Touring surgical experience returns to Monmouth

January 15, 2020

The Blake Theatre staged Operating Theatre Live in September 2019.

The award-winning Operating Theatre Live is bringing its human interactive dissection show to The Blake Theatre at Monmouth School for Boys on Saturday 12th September.

Fresh from being seen on BBC’s Dragons’ Den over the summer, Operating Theatre Live is conducting the UK’s only touring surgical experience offering a rigorous educational experience matched to UK exam specifications.

It will deliver in-depth content to students aged 14 to 19 years old or those on access courses.

The event will challenge students to explore careers in medicine and healthcare to raise engagement in STEM subjects.

Students will work through a dissection of the human body and be taught a variety of clinical skills, including interpreting x-rays and linking symptoms to clinical diagnosis.

With a post-mortem examination-style experience, students will look at disease and pathology, working on real specimens and using surgeons’ tools.

For those interested in studying anatomy, medicine or pathology at undergraduate level, this event promises to be a great experience.
