A talented engineer has won a top honour in a ceremony to recognise leading business figures in the region.

Lisa, a student at Monmouth School for Girls, was crowned Young Entrepreneur at the Monmouthshire Business Awards 2018 on Friday 19th October.

Lisa, 17, runs her own business, Xorbit, a car dehumidifier and air freshener in a cup, and was named UK Junior Engineer of the Year at the Big Bang Fair in 2016.

“I have been involved with Monmouthshire Business Awards for the last few years, being a student ambassador and then being nominated for the award in the past,” said Lisa.

“I am so pleased to have won this year and received recognition for Xorbit.”

Lisa is the Deputy Head Girl at Monmouth and is hoping to study Mechanical Engineering at Oxford University.

The awards ceremony took place at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport and recognises the contribution of businesses and business people in towns and cities that were part of Monmouthshire prior to 1965.

Entries were accepted from Monmouthshire, Newport, Caerleon, Cwmbran, Ebbw Vale, Usk and Caerphilly.

Lisa also holds a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship and is a keen musician, playing the harp and flute.
