Swimmers at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools created a splash at a national competition in Cardiff.

The pupils raced to four gold medals, two silvers, and a bronze in the Urdd National Swimming Gala at Cardiff International Pool.

Rachel was  in imperious form, storming to a gold medal in the Year 11+ 100m butterfly and taking silver in the 100m backstroke in the Secondary Gala.

She teamed up with fellow Monmouth School for Girls’ students Ellie, Hattie and Laura to win gold in the senior relay team medley and a silver in the senior relay team freestyle.

Ellie also competed in the Year 11+ as an individual and came away with a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.

The Year 9+10 relay team swam with lots of maturity and enthusiasm and, although they didn’t place, were a huge credit to the school and coaches.

The Year 6 relay team at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep achieved a golden double in the medley and freestyle relay finals.
