A Roman Historian from the University of Warwick showed ancient coins to pupils at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.

Professor Alison Cooley also gave a fascinating presentation to 50 boys and girls from Year 9 to 11 and explained all the opportunities the study of Classics has to offer.

“The Ancient World is wide and there is much to explore in it,” she said.

Professor Cooley gave examples of students specialising in fields such as Ancient Architecture, the study of links between Rome and the Ancient Far East, numismatics, theatre studies and the study of Roman laughter.
