Revolutio challenges young readers

May 24, 2018

Keen readers from Years 8, 9 and 10 were treated to a delicious Literary Lunch at Monmouth School for Girls Library on Monday, May 21st.

The special lunch was held as part of the Revolutio programme – a joint enterprise between Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth School for Boys English departments. Monmouth Comprehensive School students have also been welcomed at events too.

Led by English staff  from Monmouth School for Girls, the Revolutio Lunch saw pupils delving into literature and discussing the finer points of inspirational fiction over a delicious spread of sandwiches, fruit and cakes.

Year 8 (led by Mrs Harvey) discussed Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk. Year 9 (chaired by Mrs White) held a lively conversation about Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, while Year 10 concentrated on J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye (led by Mr Edwards).

Mrs Harvey commented that the event was “a wonderful opportunity to engage and challenge our keen readers.”
