Record number of netballers gain County Honours

County Netball1 A total of seven girls from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls have successfully been selected to represent South East Wales Netball.

Elinor and Myfanwy trialled against 60 other hopefuls from a variety of schools in the South East region.

The two Year 9 girls, who are both boarders at HMSG, will represent the U14 age group in forthcoming fixtures and inter-county events.

At the U18 trials Poppy, Annabel, Evie, Sereima, and 1st VII Captain, Megan, were chosen.

Mrs Caroline Jones, the girls’ netball coach said: “We are delighted to have so many girls gaining county honours this year.

“It is a brilliant achievement that each and every girl should be so proud of.”

The netballers will train on a monthly basis for county, as well as weekly training at school and with clubs in their home towns.

“The girls have been given a fantastic opportunity to develop their already impressive netball skills, and now get to perform on a much bigger stage,” Caroline added.
