Question Time event offers community chance to quiz influential panel

January 26, 2017

Sixth formers are inviting members of the public to quiz a diverse panel of influential people who help make life-changing decisions for the community.

Monmouthshire Youth Parliament’s Question Time event takes place on Friday evening, from 5.30pm to 7pm, in the main hall of Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls.

The panel will comprise of Nick Ramsay, Welsh Assembly Member for Monmouth, Steffan Lewis, Plaid Cymru Assembly Member for the South East, HMSG Old Girl Natalie Sandercock, barrister and deputy district judge, and Andrew Tuggey, Chief Executive of Commonwealth Parliament and High Sheriff of Gwent.

HMSG pupil Beth, who founded MYP alongside Jack from Monmouth School, said: “An exciting range of speakers have agreed to form the panel. The current international political climate is tumultuous.  We need opportunities like this to challenge, question and to listen.  It is essential that we become active and informed citizens so that our voices can be heard.”

Labour Party member, Beth, set up MYP in the summer holidays to give local schoolchildren an opportunity to share ideas and have their voices heard.

The Question Time evening, to be chaired by Monmouth Comprehensive sixth former, Wulfstan, will be the third event organised by the group, following successful public meetings at the Shire Hall.

Entry is free and all are welcome.

Questions, to be extended on entry, will be received from under 18s only.
