Pupils show off skills in national final

July 6, 2020

Students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools have competed in the Young Enterprise UK Company of the Year Final.

Prospect, consisting of Sixth Form students at Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth School for Boys, was among the 13 finalists from all over the UK.

The Monmouth team, which has been based at Monmouth School for Girls, represented the schools with distinction on the UK stage.

A total of 13,700 students and 719 schools were involved in Young Enterprise this year.

The Monmouth team had previously been crowned the Welsh Student Company of the Year 2020.

Led by Managing Director, Anna, Prospect (pictured above) has been making bumble wraps – a natural alternative to single-use plastic.

Anna spoke to host, Steph McGovern, the award-winning journalist, during the live awards event screened on Microsoft Teams.

The company had also previously won Wales’ Customer Service award.

Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ other Young Enterprise company, Byeco, won the Best Presentation and Most Innovative Product prizes at the Wales finals for its recyclable drinks can lid, called Sip N Slide.

Prospect and Byeco congratulate EnviroTent from King Edward VI School in Lichfield, which has been crowned the overall UK Young Enterprise Company of the Year.
