Musical trio triumph in Monmouth’s Got Talent

March 11, 2019

Carys (singer), Anna (cello) and Charlie (piano) won Monmouth’s Got Talent.

Three musicians at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools carried off the top prize in this year’s annual talent contest.

Carys (singer), Anna (cello) and Charlie (piano) joined forces to win Monmouth’s Got Talent at the Blake Theatre on Wednesday 6th March.

The trip did a musicals’ medley with songs from Les Misérables, Oliver! and Wicked.

Students from the town’s three secondary schools united on stage after progressing from the qualifying rounds for a special celebration of music.

The evening raised around £1,000 for Cancer Research Wales in memory of Monmouth School for Boys’ pupil, Tom.

A band from Monmouth School for Boys, called The Whip, played very impressively to take the runners-up spot.

Another band from Monmouth School for Boys, The Curb, also shone as did Monmouth School for Girls’ soloists, Sophie and Lottie

The standard of musicianship of the pianists and guitarists demonstrated the wide breath of talent across the three senior schools in Monmouth.

Osbaston School’s William, a talented pianist, was the winner of Junior Monmouth’s Got Talent.

William’s wonderful opening recital set the tone for a hugely successful and enjoyable evening of music-making.
