Mr David Edwards appointed Senior Deputy Head at Monmouth School for Girls

November 29, 2019

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr David Edwards as the new Senior Deputy Head at Monmouth School for Girls.  David is currently a Housemaster at Wellington College in Berkshire, where he also teaches Modern Languages, runs the infantry section of the CCF, coaches sport and is part of the Pastoral Leadership Team.  Mr Edwards will take up the position in September 2020.

The Edwards family has very close links to Monmouth as both David and his wife, Pip, attended the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.  David graduated from Durham University with a degree in Modern Languages (French, Spanish and Portuguese) and then took up a commission in The Royal Welch Fusiliers, serving with them for seven years.

David began his teaching career at Wellington College before becoming Head of Spanish at the British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi.  After six years in the UAE, David returned to Wellington College as a Housemaster where he is in his seventh year in role.

A keen sportsman, David believes that challenge is central to personal growth and happiness and has twice completed the Marathon des Sables and will be rowing across the Atlantic over the Christmas holidays.

We are greatly looking forward to welcoming David, his wife and four children back to Monmouth and are planning several opportunities for pupils, parents and staff to meet him over the next two terms.
