March 17, 2020

An impressive music and dance act from Monmouth School for Girls has triumphed in a popular local talent contest at The Blake Theatre.

The winning group, which comprised of singers, dancers, a pianist and a cellist, wowed the judges and audience to win Monmouth’s Got Talent 2020.

The annual competition, held to raise funds for charity, pits the town’s three senior schools against one another in a grand show of talent across all performance areas.

Monmouth School for Girls’ pupils Vivian, Rose, Nerys, Carmen and Maria were joined by Monmouth School for Boys’ pupil, Arnold, to form the winning group, The Shadow. Magician, Joe, a pupil at Monmouth Comprehensive School, was the runner-up and Rohi, a rapper from Monmouth School for Boys, took the third place on the podium.

Each year the competition wows the audience with a spectacular celebration of talent and skill from across all three Monmouth schools. This year the event raised money for two mental health charities, Mindstep and the Ted Senior Foundation.
