Lacrosse players enjoy memorable tour of USA

May 5, 2017

During the Easter holidays, after two years of planning, fundraising and training, 40 lacrosse players from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls travelled to America for #HMSGLAXUSA17.

Boarder, Madison, said: “We travelled around the East Coast playing lacrosse and sightseeing.

“First Washington, then Virginia, then Maryland and finally New York.

“We had the opportunity to experience the American way of life, while staying with host families from the schools against which we played.

“Some of the highlights were seeing the US lacrosse headquarters, celebrating Mrs Poyner’s birthday, a moving visit to the 9/11 memorial, watching university level lacrosse and noticing our own lacrosse drastically improving throughout the trip after every game.

“We bonded as a lacrosse team over bowling, shopping and Forrest Gump-themed food.

“Everyone on the tour is incredibly grateful to the teachers; Miss Scott, Miss K, Mrs Poyner and Mrs Marks for giving up their time to make the trip possible.”
