It’s Spring and we’re in Berlin

April 11, 2014

We’d visited our favourite landmarks: the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, with its impressive dome designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster and the country’s tallest building and pride of the former GDR, the Fernsehturm.

This year, however, the warm sunshine drew us towards the historic and beautiful city of Potsdam and the lavish royal palaces of the Kings of Prussia.  Who would have thought that Berlin would have its own huge lake, the Wannsee, complete with paddle-steamers and the largest man-made beach in Europe?  Our four-day action packed tour would not have been complete without a visit to a traditional German restaurant, where we sampled Berlin’s chief culinary delicacy, the Currywurst.  This was a thoroughly enjoyable visit for senior school pupils and accompanying staff alike.
