On 24th November four Year 9 pupils took part in the annual Geographical Association’s Worldwise Quiz.

The local round of this exciting geographical quiz is held in Hereford.  Six local schools from Herefordshire, plus HMSG and Monmouth School took part.  The quiz consists of a number of rounds ranging from, Japan, UK landmarks, fieldwork and map skills and an alphabet round.  Gemma, Sophie, Tegwen and Francesca volunteered to represent HMSG and enthusiastically approached each task.  The half time doughnut gave a much needed energy boost for the final rounds and to swap a team member.  The girls were valiant, rising to the challenge, the Japan round was particularly challenging.  The final rounds were demanding with a very tricky picture and quick fire rounds.  The team correctly identified the Pen y Fan picture very quickly, with only a small part of the image uncovered.  This was very impressive.  Great fun was had by all, Gemma, Sophie, Tegwen and Francesca proved themselves to great geography ambassadors for HMSG.  Further information on the Geographical Association and the Worldwise Quiz can be found at:  http://worldwise.geography.org.uk/localquiz/
