GSA Netball Tournament

September 30, 2014

On the 26th-28th September, the U14s netball A team participated in the GSA netball tournament at Condover Hall.

The following ten girls were selected to attend; Izzy (C) , Fran, Niamh (WD), Catrin (WA), Phoebe (WA), Ellie (GK), Tessa (WD), Katie (GS), Mary (GA) and Sofia (GD).

On Saturday 27th, the girls started with a close match losing against Notting Hill, with a final score of 5-4, followed by a win against Bedford Girls’ school, finishing with 6-7.

After a break of intense drills and watching how the others play, the team came out with another win with a score of 2-4 against Shrewsbury High School, then moving straight on with barely enough time to have a drink, the girls were once again victorious against St Catherine’s, Twickenham B scoring 12 goals and conceding none.

After a quick lunch and some more drills, the team went straight on against Bury Grammar School with an unfortunate loss of 10-6, but coming back strong with a win against Dame Allan’s School conceding no goals and scoring 6.

Unfortunately by this time the girls had picked up a few injuries, leading to a loss of 7-1 against Tormead School and another loss of 8-4 against The Lady Eleanor Holles School. With these results and some strong play from the girls, we were put into the second division for Sundays matches.

After a very early start on Sunday the girls managed to pull out a win in their first match against City of London School for Girls with a score of 4-5. Unfortunately the girls just lost out against Marist Senior School with an interesting match ending in 5-8.

These results put us through to play against Bury Grammar School in the semi finals losing 7-5. In our final match, we were competing for third place against Notting Hill but missing out and finishing with a score of 2-3.

Overall it was a very good experience and lots of good netball was played in the tournament.

We would line to thank Miss Marshall and Mrs Jones for a really memorable weekend.
