Greece Trip 2014

May 2, 2014

In the early hours of 29th March 2014, Classics students from Years 11 to 13 landed in Greece, ready for the first day of what was going to be a very successful trip to the Peloponnese – with stops in Mystras, Orchomenos, Argos, Epidauros, Nemea and Mycenae – and to Athens.  Every day was filled with visits to a great variety of sites such as theatres, temples, stadiums, citadels, each of which offered links with literature and mythology in addition to their historical importance.  Students of Greek art found the day trip to Athens particularly rewarding as they were able to see with their own eyes the major marvels of Greek sculpture and pottery, and to appreciate the scale and beauty of the Parthenon on the Acropolis.
