Grants help Ellie on her way to Argentina

A kind-hearted Sixth Former has been awarded two grants to help fund her trip to Argentina, where she will be involved in life-changing volunteering projects.

Ellie from Monmouth School for Girls has received a Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarship worth £200 and £300 from the Thomas Arno Fund to fulfil her ambition.

The teenager will spend 10 weeks staying at the International Volunteers HQ, working on projects in schools and with elderly and disabled people.

She said: “I’ll be volunteering with lots of different people to really make the most of my time. I’d like to help as many people as possible.

“I love travelling and seeing the world, but I want to do good things and have an impact, so this is a meeting of those two things.

“I’m a little bit nervous – I’ll be flying out by myself, but staying in a big volunteers’ house. I’m really excited.”

Ellie hopes to study politics and international relations at university after her gap year.
