March 8, 2017

Four riders and their trusty steeds have trotted into the finals of a dressage competition.

Six pupils from Years 8, 9 and 10 at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls competed in the NSEA dressage qualifiers for the national finals on Sunday, March 5.

Taking place at King’s Equestrian Centre in Bromyard, the regional round saw Emma, Madeleine and Flora finish second in the Prelim 12 Class as a team and qualify for the finals.

Charlotte qualified for the finals as an individual, finishing third in a pool of 22 riders in the Prelim 12 Class. And Emma was third and qualified for the finals in the Novice Class.

Camille Geisz, Equestrian Team Manager at HMSG, said: “We have riders from Year 5 to Year 13 competing regularly against other schools.

“They all take the events very seriously, and support each other with a wonderful team spirit.

“We always have great fun at the events, everyone trying their best but also simply enjoying an opportunity to take their horses and ponies out and to ride with their friends.

“Our competition riders have really come together as a team this year and they can be proud of their successes.”

Eleven schools from Monmouthshire, Powys, Gloucestershire and Shropshire took part in the event.

The finals are set to take place next month.
