A former Monmouth student has returned to her old school to mark International Women’s Day.

Businesswoman Hannah Trefgarne, from Haygrove Ltd in Herefordshire, gave a thought-provoking and compelling talk to pupils, staff, parents and guests at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.

The former Monmouth School for Girls’ pupil was the main speaker and highlighted the importance of climate change.

She also encouraged the audience to follow their ‘northern star’ in making an impact on the world.

Deputy Head Girl, Myfanwy, opened the event, which included an address by Scarlett, a pupil and speaker from the school’s Model United Nations group, and former pupil, Pip Thomas, a criminologist.

The well-supported Monmouth School for Girls’ Hub Business Event raised the profile around this year’s International Women’s Day theme, Each for Equal, which has called for a more gender-balanced world.
