Headmistress to take on Headship in India
The Governors have agreed with Dr Caroline Pascoe that she will take a leave of absence for the Summer term. This will enable Caroline to prepare for her move to India as she takes up the post of Principal at The International School Bangalore with effect from 14th August 2018. The Governors would like to thank Caroline for all her hard work during her four years at the helm which has seen numbers on roll increase, the schools achieving excellent in the 2015 Estyn Inspection, our best ever A* performance at GCSE/IGCSE in 2017, and the building of the new Performing Arts Centre as a focus for the creative talents of our pupils.
During the Summer term, Caroline’s duties as Headmistress will be undertaken by the existing Senior Management Team, led by Tom Arrand. It will be ‘business as usual’ in a busy term ahead as Tom and the team continue preparations for the launch of co-educational teaching in the Sixth Form and prepare for the opening of the new Performing Arts Centre in September.
Whilst we will miss him, we are delighted to announce that Tom has been offered the position of Principal at Padworth College, near Reading, a co-educational international boarding school. He will take up his new post in September 2018. The Governors would like to thank Tom for nine years of loyal service as Deputy Head of Monmouth School for Girls and wish him well for his new challenge.
The Governors will now focus their efforts on recruiting a full time Head for Monmouth School for Girls.
In the interim, we are really pleased to confirm that the very experienced Senior Deputy Head of Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls in Elstree and Executive Head of the Elstree Girls’ Prep, Robert James-Robbins, will take over as Acting Head from 1 September 2018. Haberdashers’ Elstree regularly features in the top 10 performing independent schools in the country with over 1,100 girls on roll. It will be a major benefit to share Robert’s educational expertise across our family of Haberdashers’ schools and we are grateful that he will be joining us in Monmouth. Robert grew up in Pontypool, so knows the area well. In order to hit the ground running in September, he will be visiting the schools during the course of the Summer term to meet pupils, staff and parents. We are confident that our school will be in excellent hands and look forward to working with Robert over the coming months.
Finally, the Governors are still seeking to appoint a Principal to lead the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools. We will keep you informed as the search progresses. However, as mentioned above, our focus is currently on identifying and appointing a new Head for Monmouth School for Girls.
