1st XII take on HMSG Old Girls

May 5, 2015

After the buzz of the National School’s Championships, the annual fixture against Haberdashers’ Elstree and, of course, the charity match against the boys from Monmouth School, the final event of the 2014-15 lacrosse calendar was the newly established 1st XII v HMSG Old Girls.   A large and experienced squad of former-pupils, ably led by Holly Okell (Leaver 2006) and accompanied by a raft of support from the side-lines, took to the field with gusto.  Despite their enthusiasm they but could not quite match the fitness and composure of the 1st XII, who are currently ranked 6th nationally.  An early lead allowed the current pupils the opportunity to control play and, notwithstanding relentless counter-attack by the OGs the match resulted in a 9-0 win for HMSG.

A huge thank you to Mrs Rossiter (OG) for umpiring and to all those who came to support the players, especially Old Girls and former teachers.  We hope to make this an annual event and that even more Old Girls will be able to join us in the future.
