Two friends from Monmouth School for Girls wore eye-catching cowboy hats in a moonlit marathon to raise money for breast cancer charities.

Sixth Form students Amy and Maki trekked 15.1 miles across the centre of London in memory of Amy’s aunt, Andrea, who sadly died a year ago.

The girls were among 15,000 other men and women who donned decorated bras and embraced a Wild West theme for The MoonWalk London.

The annual MoonWalk, in aid of Walk the Walk, began at midnight on Saturday. It started and ended in Clapham Common.

The walk took in sights of the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Battersea Park with entertainment along the route including fire eaters, magicians and bands.

Amy and Maki crossed the finishing line at 5am on Sunday 13th May with huge smiles on their faces, an impressive medal and rather large blisters.

The girls are now close to reaching £1,000 in sponsorship, which will be double their initial fundraising target.

Money from the challenge will be spent in hospices across the UK to provide support for breast cancer patients and their families.
