Evolve won the Teamwork, Best Company Report and the Marketing & Social Media awards.

Two groups of business-minded students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools scooped five awards in a Welsh national competition this week.

The talented teams, which each contained Year 12 boys and girls, shone in The Young Enterprise Company Programme Welsh Student Finals that took place virtually this year.

Evolve, a team based at Monmouth School for Girls, celebrated a hat-trick of titles, winning the Teamwork, Best Company Report and the Marketing & Social Media awards.

And Pocket Plenty, a team based at Monmouth School for Boys, clinched a double, carrying off the Innovation & Technology, and Community prizes.

The young Haberdashers’ Monmouth entrepreneurs excelled, missing out in just two of the seven awards categories.

They gained so much experience about the world of business and the importance of communication and working together as a team.

Evolve, supported by Miss Michele Attrill, Head of Economics and Business Studies at Monmouth School for Girls, designed and created Tech Support, a phone and small device holder.

Tech Support is an aluminium phone stand manufactured from sustainable aluminium and finished with a logo perforation.

Evolve experienced many opportunities in coming together to create a business opportunity to benefit the community and would like to thank Dr Andrew Leitch, Business Advisor, who supported and guided them through their Young Enterprise journey.

Pocket Plenty, a team overseen by Mr Nick Goodson, Design and Technology Teacher at Monmouth School for Boys, created a facemask container, made from recycled clothes, and sold wristbands to be worn by people vaccinated against Covid-19.

Pocket Plenty would like to thank Dr Delyth Harris, Business Advisor, who supported and guided them throughout the year.

Pocket Plenty is now selling its last remaining wristbands and profits are going towards the NHS.

The wristbands can be bought from the reception areas at the two senior schools as well as Monmouth School Boys’ Prep and Monmouth Schools Pre-Prep and Nursery.
