England hopes for rugby ace

A rugby player has been selected for a two-day England Under-18s training camp later this month.

Joe, Year 12 student at Monmouth School for Boys, trained with this England age-group squad in the spring.

Joe, who plays in the centre, linked up with the North squad at St George’s Park in Staffordshire.

Joe and fellow Monmouth School for Boys 1st XV player, Theo, were both involved in the initial England development camp at Stafford Rugby Club.

Now Joe, who is also a member of Bristol Bears Under-18s, will be aiming to impress the coaches, once again, between 31st July and 1st August.

A squad of 26 players will be picked from the England training days for a week-long camp in the middle of August, culminating in a fixture against Italy Under-18s.

“This is a fantastic achievement from Joe and I am sure it will be a great experience for him,” said Mr Paul Morris, 1st XV coach at Monmouth School for Boys.

“We wish Joe all the very best in trying to secure an England cap.”

Joe played at Hereford Rugby Club from under-9 to under-16 level and has represented both Newport and Bristol Schools.
