On Monday we launched our annual Festival of Literacy with a fancy dress book character event. The children and staff arrived to school wearing a fantastic array of costumes, and many had brought their favourite book along to share with their friends. We looked at the importance of reading in a whole school assembly, which the Nursery children were also invited to, as an element of their transition to school. The children played a book quiz, where they were tasked with naming some popular books from pictorial clues. Once back in their classrooms, the children enjoyed a variety of book-related activities.
