Healthy and nutritious recipe suggestions from five students will be appearing on the lunch menu at Monmouth School for Girls next term.
Girls and staff at the school can look forward to mouth-watering new options, ranging from Italian-style minestrone bowl to pesto crusted fillet of cod served with saute potatoes.
Emily, Manon, Amy, Ottilie and Erin put forward their ideas for the new dishes after a challenge was issued for new and healthy meal suggestions for the school menu.
The recipes from the five pupils were chosen after more than 50 entries flooded in from The Year 9 Food and Nutrition students.
The meals chosen are:
Emily: Pesto crusted fillet of cod served with saute potatoes.
Manon: Spinach, Greek-style feta and filo pastry tart.
Amy: Sweet and salty honey and mustard tofu noodles.
Ottilie: Cheesy tuna pasta bake.
Erin: Italian-style minestrone bowl.
Teacher of Food and Nutrition at Monmouth School for Girls, Mrs Jo Vickers (pictured, fourth from left), said: “There were more than 50 entries from which to choose.
“We are enormously grateful to our Catering Manager, Karen Wood, and her team of chefs for selecting the five recipes which met the standards of the School Food and will feature on the school’s menus.
“We look forward to seeing the dishes on the school menu next term.”
